Social science information systems for small-scale fisheries management and development in Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand

    Thumbnail
    Abstract
    • In this report the regular data collection systems of the Departments of Fisheries and other government or quasi-government institutions such as marketing and development agencies are first described (Section VI). Most of the data collected by these institutions are biological and technical rather than socioeconomic, and generally they do not deal specifically with the small-scale fisheries of the country. Details of these systems, arranged according to the items given in paragraph 6 of the Terms of Reference, are presented as Appendices to this report. In Section V, information is presented on the collection of socioeconomic data on small-scale fisheries.
