United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Taylor & Francis (Routledge).9781315111643https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12348/5268In this chapter we discuss the place of fishing communities and fishing livelihoods within the emerging spatial turn in ocean management. It is argued that the place-specific and mobile livelihood strategies of fishing communities – which do not always fit within spatial management logics – have to be considered carefully in ocean management. The chapter begins with a discussion of what this spatial turn entails, how we can understand fishing livelihoods – going beyond the economic practice of fishing – and how fishing livelihoods are conceived of in policy discussions. The chapter ends with mapping out some future direction for research in this area.Copyrighted; all rights reservedfishing livelihoodsterritorialisationLivelihoods and territorialisation of ocean spaceBook Chapterhttps://dx.doi.org/10.4324/9781315111643-11
