This Medium Term Plan (MTP) describes the World Fish Center’s programs and partnerships and explains how they will help to reduce poverty, increase food and nutritional security, and improve the environment. Building upon the WorldFish Center’s recent achievements in aquatic resources research and development, the MTP has been developed against the backdrop of world events in 2003-2004, particularly the recent interim reports of the Millennium Task Forces, the most recent Human Development Report, the World Bank fisheries approach paper, and the ongoing trends of overexploitation, reduced production and increased demand for fish and other aquatic resources. This plan highlights the significant achievements of the Center in a number of key areas.
