The manual provides information on various better management practices for improving major carp hatcheries and quality seed production. Promoting the implementation of BMPs across the value chain for carp polyculture systems could benefit the state through improved productivity, better compliance to national food safety requirements, reduced negative environmental and social consequences. This first version of BMPs for Indian Major Carp hatcheries for quality seed production is complementary to the Package of Practice (PoP) provided by College of Fisheries, Assam under the APART project. Version one (V1) provided by WorldFish will be an evolving document and will be updated considering the results and experiences of Year 2 carp hatchery demonstrations
