This annual report summarizes ECOFISH II’s key achievements from January to November 2024, focusing on sustainable coastal and marine fisheries management in Bangladesh. Collaborating with local universities, NGOs, and experts, the project implemented ecosystem monitoring, co-management, and livelihood initiatives. Key activities included water quality monitoring, collection of 8,640 kg of plastic waste by youth “Blue Guards,” and training 1,955 fishers on biodiversity conservation and safety at sea. ECOFISH II supported policy development by conducting seven studies on fisheries governance and marine conservation. To improve livelihoods, 2,000 artisanal fishing households participated in income-generating activities and women-led groups. Additionally, the project fostered stakeholder engagement through awareness events, artisanal fishers’ congresses, and co-management committees at landing centers. These efforts aim to enhance resilience, promote sustainable fishing practices, and improve fisheries governance. Notable outcomes include improved catch per unit effort, increased stakeholder capacity, and strengthened local fisheries governance structures.
