FishBase 2000 is the fifth release of ICLARM's comprehensive CD-ROM database on finfish. Contains over 20,000 of the 25,000 known finfish species. It has over 54,000 names; new FAO catch data (1950-1996); aquaculture data (1984-1996) and introductions data; over 15,000 pictures and over 12,000 references. The classification of higher taxa now follows Eschemeyer (1998). The other major improvements are the inclusion of Eschemeyer (1998) Catalog of Fishes databases (all original descriptions of fishes) and new graphs analyzing FAO catch data at the country level, aside from several new graphs and reports.
