This booklet provides practical guidance for fish farmers on measuring and interpreting key water quality parameters, including dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, turbidity, alkalinity, and hardness. Using step-by-step instructions, visual indicators, and safe threshold values, it promotes early detection of water quality problems that can lead to fish stress and disease. By strengthening routine water quality management, the booklet supports disease prevention, improved biosecurity, and reduced need for antimicrobial use in aquaculture. The material was jointly produced under the CGIAR Sustainable Animal and Aquatic Foods (SAAF) Science Program and the Antimicrobial Resistance and One Health South Asia (AMROH-SA) Project.
