The 2nd quarterly progress report (April–June 2023) for Year 4 highlights the achievements of ECOFISH II Activity across the Zone of Resilience, Meghna River Ecosystem, and Nijhum Dwip Marine Protected Area. Key accomplishments include ecosystem health improvement, coastal biodiversity conservation, and fisheries monitoring. Partnerships with CVASU and SUST have been crucial in advancing scientific outputs. Notable activities include the removal of 1,234 kg of plastic pollutants by trained Blue Guards and the continued monitoring of fish landing records, with 608 tons of fish landed in Cox’s Bazar. ECOFISH II also promoted a Ghat-based co-management model, formed Fisheries Conservation Groups, and engaged Citizen Scientists in monitoring efforts. Additionally, the project supported sustainable livelihood initiatives, including safe dried fish production and alternative income-generating activities for fishing households. Collaborative efforts led to significant conservation advancements, training programs, and community engagement, ensuring long-term positive impacts on marine biodiversity and local livelihoods. The project also celebrated environmental and conservation-related events, raising awareness in the intervened areas.
