The findings are presented of an examination of growth and mortality rates of demersal and pelagic fish in the Gulf of Aden. Small pelagic fish with short life span had high mortality coefficient values around 1.0 for a T, max of5 years, whereas larger demersal fish had values between 0.2-0.4 for life spans between 12 and 21 years.
