The ECOFISH II Year 5 Q3 report highlights achievements from July-September 2024 in ZOR, MRE, and Nijhum Dwip MPA areas. Key activities included ecosystem health improvement, coastal biodiversity conservation, and fisheries monitoring. The team monitored five climate indicators (e.g., water temperature, pH) along coasts and conducted 58 campaigns, collecting 2,130 kg of pollutants. Fisheries co-management efforts advanced, with LFCCs holding meetings and trainings on ecosystem management. Catch data from 10 Landing Center Facilitators (LCFs) revealed 67 species, contributing 1,694 tons to the commercial marine fishery. Additionally, 26 entangled megafaunas were released, promoting biodiversity. The WING initiative empowered women with savings programs and literacy training, generating BDT 4,779,485 in savings. Nutrition-sensitive homestead gardening training and seed distribution improved food security. A BLS assessment showed notable literacy and nutrition knowledge gains. These efforts, combined with MEL team evaluations and national fish week celebrations, underscore ECOFISH II’s holistic impact on community resilience, biodiversity conservation, and economic growth.en_US
