The third quarterly progress report for Year-4 of the ECOFISH II Activity (July-September 2023) highlights key achievements across the Zone of Resilience, Meghna River Ecosystem, and Nijhum Dwip Marine Protected Area. ECOFISH II engaged 3,007 small-scale fishing households in 27 villages, focusing on women in Women Income and Nutrition Groups (WING) and men in Fisheries Conservation Groups (FCG). The project monitored water quality, improved ecosystem health through plastic waste removal, and engaged 120 trained Blue Guards. Fish landing data revealed 47 predominant species, with Bombay duck and Hilsa being significant contributors. Forty Citizen Scientists provided catch data, with the highest CPUE in Moheshkhali (776.1 kg/boat/day). The project also formed fisheries co-management committees, trained boat skippers, and advanced seaweed farming initiatives. Collaboration with universities and stakeholders contributed to policy support, including the proposal for a new MPA in the Naf River estuary.en_US
