The Norad-funded Aquatic Health Africa (AHA) project Increased Sustainability in the Aquaculture Sector in Sub-Saharan Africa through Improved Aquatic Animal Health Management was successfully carried out from December 1, 2020, to March 31, 2025, across Ghana, Kenya and other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The project was funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation’s (Norad) Aquatic Health Africa (AHA) project and led by WorldFish, in partnership with the Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI), the University of Ghana (UoG) and the University of Nairobi (UoN). The project aimed to improve the sustainability and resilience of aquaculture systems by strengthening the research capacity of aquatic animal health (AAH), expanding education and training programs, and building active regional networks. In line with its overarching goal, the AHA project achieved notable outcomes across three main areas: research, education and networking. In doing so, it directly benefitted government institutions, researchers, students and industry stakeholders in more than eight SSA countries.en_US
