While aquaculture is still a relatively young activity in Pakistan with ample prospects, it represents a substantial economic endeavor for the people on the coast of Sindh and hinterlands of Punjab province. Due to the arid and semi-arid climate of the area, rainfall is scarce and irregular and many areas are affected by salinity and waterlogging. Thousands of hectares have been abandoned because of salinity in the soil. This report analyzed data collected from Saline aquaculture farmers in Pakistan. It has identified major gaps in aquaculture practices and opportunities to intervene in aquaculture in Pakistan.
