dc.description.abstract | Bighead catfish (Clarias macrocephalus) is an indigenous fish species in Cambodia and neighboring Southeast Asian countries that is very popular because of its tender and delicate taste. As a freshwater species, it has both gill and modified gill structures, serving as an accessory air-breathing organ (ABO). Thus, it can tolerate various adverse environmental conditions and can survive in shallow water, even in the dry or arid season. For commercial farmers, these characteristics mean culturing bighead catfish can earn them high profits. | en_US |
