This final report details all the activities and outcomes of the WorldFish components of the project (6 January 2017 to 30 November). The unique combination of protecting and improving management of areas of coast while providing alternative fishing grounds and resources presents a novel approach that potentially provides for a rare win-win in terms of conservation outcomes, human wellbeing and the right to food. Given the low current utilization of pelagic fish resources on the northern coast of Timor-Leste, access to these resources will assist with reducing pressure on reefs, while potentially improving fisher livelihoods and household food security. The 'organic' spread of community-based management, with communities asking for support to implement their own locally managed marine areas, is very positive and needs support from projects such as this.
